Amrapali was born on 20 December 1988 in a middle-class family hailing from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. She is not the only child in the family but has two more siblings, namely Megha Gupta, who is elder to her and Aditi Gupta, who is younger than her. Her father was formerly employed at a collectorate in Lucknow and is now exempted from service.

Amrapali received her school education from Nari Shiksha Niketan, located in Kaiserbagh. She was fascinated with acting during her days as a school student itself and began indulging in theatre plays. In 2001, after bidding adieu to college studies, she relocated to Mumbai to earn a name in the field of acting.

Eventually, while auditioning for roles in television shows, she landed her debut in the horror episodic series Sssssshhh…..koi hai, but had her first prominent role as a protagonist in the Doordarshan special serial Khushiyaan. She began emerging to greater heights after her appearance in Khushiyaan and delivered a slew of roles in other tv serials as well, such as Krishna Arjun, Vikraal aur Gabraal, Hatim, Shaka Laka boom boom, Chi and Me, Raaz.. ki ek baat, Vaidehi, Banoo Main Teri Dulhann, CID, Doli Saja Ke, Teen Bahuraniyaan, Durgesh Nandini, Ek Se Badhkar Ek, Imtihaan and gazillions of other daily soap operas. She rose to fame with her appearance in the Zee TV special show, ‘Qubool Hai.
Some of her latest works are known to be Naagin and the ongoing Star Bharat special serial ‘Gud Se Meetha Ishq‘.
