Kangana Ranaut Career

Ranaut did her school education at DAV school, Chandigarh. Her parents insisted she pursue medical studies, to which she refused after flunking a unit test in the Chemistry subject in the 12th standard. Despite being compelled to appear in the All India Pre-Medical Test, she did not appear in the exam. She aspired to pursue modelling after that; the tremendous differences in career choices between Kangana and her parents led to a rift in their relations. She then relocated to Delhi at the age of sixteen to act on her career prospects. During her stay in Delhi, she did not receive any financial assistance from her father, as he considered her aspirations aimless.

Initially, she took some modelling assignments from the Elite Modelling agency and was mesmerized by her looks. She then turned her focus towards acting and bonded with the Asmita theatre group, staging theatre plays. Still, after modelling for a brief period, Kangana left her Career as she experienced a lack of creativity in the field. Kangana recalls struggling a lot during her stay in Mumbai, eating only bread and pickle as her meal. Her decision to enter the film industry did not go well with her other relatives, who broke contact with her for many years.

Eventually, in 2004, Kangana stumbled across a chance to appear on the big screen in the Mahesh Bhatt-directed film I Love You Jaan but was unfortunately replaced by Chitrangada Singh. The reason behind her replacement was her relatively youthful appearance, which director Mahesh Bhatt found unsuitable for the role. But later in 2006, Ranaut bagged her debut film Gangster, which Mahesh Bhatt also directed. Sharing the screen with Shiney Ahuja and Emraan Hashmi, Kangana transitioned into films. The film garnered ample praise and was a commercial success. She also bagged the Filmfare award for the best female debut.
