Jyothirmayi (Jyothi) was brought up by her stepmother Ashalatha and her father Sudhakaran after her mother died at a young age. She is very close to her half-sister Priya. Devkrishna (DK), from a wealthy family, the son of Padmavathiamma, lives in memory of the loss of his first wife Supriya. He adopted three sons- Shriram, Balu, and Gokul and their wives Maya, Chitra, and Tara.
On DK’s 40th birthday, DK receives an earlier letter from Supriya asking him to find a new wife and marry within 15 days. DK’s mother Padmavathi has been praying for her son to get married for years. DK finally agreed to the marriage to fulfil Supriya’s wish. His three daughters-in-law decide to do a ‘bride interview’ as they have very little time to find a suitable wife for DK. Jyotirmayi arrives at the same place where the bride’s interview takes place to audition for a film as Sita and mistakenly believes that Jyotirmayi is auditioning for the film and attends a bridal interview. Maya and Chitra were impressed by Jyotirmayee’s answers in the interview and choose her.
