Early life and Career

Amyra was educated at Cathedral and John Connon School, Mumbai initially and later at Dhirubhai Ambani International School, Mumbai. She was inclined toward acting and modelling since her days as a student and wished to pursue her career in the same. Her first project as a model came seeking her when she was 16 years old. Eventually, she started rising in the modelling niche. She also appeared in various TV commercials endorsing brands like Foaming face wash, Dove, Micromax, and telecom companies like Airtel, Vodafone, etc. She simultaneously pursued her undergraduate degree in Bachelor of Arts from HR college, Mumbai.

After completing numerous modelling assignments, she resorted to acting. After a brief period of hardships, struggles, and auditioning 30 times, she was signed for the movie Issaq(2013), a romantic drama film, alongside Prateek Babbar. Though the movie did not perform up to expectations, Amyra came into the spotlight with the help of this film.

After making an appearance in the Hindi film industry, she tried gaining stardom down in South India too. In 2015, she got her first Tamil break opposite Tamil superstar Dhanush in Anegan. Her role in Anegan was much admired by the audience and she was nominated for the best debut actress too. Her return ticket to Bollywood happened to be the Mahesh Bhatt directed film “Mr X”, opposite Emraan Hashmi. The year 2015 had more to offer her when she became a part of Sonu Nigam’s video song, “Aa bhi jaa tu kahin se”.

In 2017, she landed her first international acting project in the action-packed film “Kung Fu Yoga”, sharing the screen with the legendary Martial artist Jackie Chan and another Bollywood actress Disha Patani.

After gaining accolades overseas, Amyra tried testing her fame in Tollywood (Telugu film industry) too. Her first Telugu break was the film Raju Gadu (2018) opposite Raj Tarun. The humour and tickling moments of the film were a saviour, with Amyra being regarded as a mediocre actor. Her next Telugu project came in the form of Manasuku Nachindi (2018), which was a complete box-office failure. Hopping back to Bollywood again, Amyra has delivered a few successful projects such as Kaalakaandi, Rajma Chawal, and Made in China. Amyra’s stunning appearances and dazzling looks have always garnered fame and praises, but none of her movies has been a blockbuster hit due to a banal plot/storyline. Currently, Amyra is busy shooting for two upcoming Tamil projects, namely “Oodi Oodi Uzhaikanum and Kadhalai Thedi Nithya Nandha” and the Hindi film “Pilfer Singh”, which is a remake of her own Telugu movie Raju Gadu.
