Bipasha Basu Early life and Career
Bipasha Basu was born in a Bengali family on 7th January 1979 to Hirak Basu and Mamta Basu. She has two sisters, namely Bidisha, older than Bipasha, and Vijaya, younger than Bipasha. Her father, Hirak, is a civil engineer, and her mother, Mamta, is a homemaker. Bipasha’s early childhood was spent in Delhi, but later the family migrated to Kolkata.
Bipasha Basu’s school education began at Apeejay High school, Delhi. After her family migrated to Kolkata, she continued her school education at Gangabux Kanoria Vidyamandir Bhavan. In her school days, she was known as ” Lady Gunda,” a bold personality, willing to fight with anyone, especially boys. Bipasha was keen to build a career in medical sciences but switched to commerce studies later.
Bipasha happened to run into a famous model, Mehr Jesia Rampal, in a hotel in 1996. Rampal suggested Basu try her hand at modelling. Later, in 1996, Bipasha competed in the Godrej Cinthol supermodel contest, crowned the winner. Further, she was shortlisted to represent India at the Ford Models Supermodel of the World contest, organized in Miami.
