Neetu Chandra (Neetu Chandra Srivastava, Nitu Chandra) is an Indian actress, model, theatre artist, and film producer known for her appearance in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi films. Besides being an actress, Neetu is a professionally trained classical dancer and an active sportsperson. She is a black belt holder in Taekwondo and has close ties with the NBA, through which she also promotes Basketball across the country. She has her own production house named Champaran Talkies, winning the National Award for the film Mithila Makhaan. The national award-winning film was directed by her brother Nitin Chandra. Her younger Brother Abhishek Chandra is a Fashion Designer in Hindi Films.

Early life and Career:

Neetu Chandra was born on 20 June 1984 to parents Umesh Chandra Shrivastava and Neera Chandra. She has an elder brother named Nitin Chandra, an existing film director, and a younger brother named Abhishek Chandra, a fashion designer in the Bollywood industry. Neetu was raised in the Patliputra Colony of Patna. She passed her high school intermediate from Notre Dame Academy, Patna, and thought of venturing into the modelling world. However, Neetu’s father, Utkarsh, was initially reluctant to let her venture into the showbiz world. But Neera, Neetu’s mother, supported her daughter’s decision to take up modelling as a career. Her mother is a resident of the East Champaran in Bihar, and Neetu attributes her success in the film and modelling industry to her mother. Since her college days at IP college, University of Delhi, she has been featured in several advertisements and videos for reputed firms.

Neetu was an avid and active sportsperson before beginning her acting journey. She represented India at the International Taekwondo Championship held in Hong Kong in 1996 and the World Korfball championship held in Delhi in 1995. She has two dan black belts and a silver medal for her proficiency in Taekwondo. After pursuing her graduation from Delhi, she initially worked with small print Ad campaigns in Delhi. Eventually, she climbed ladders of success due to her hard work and perseverance to arrive in the world of films.

Neetu eventually bagged her debut with the Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Garam Masala’ (2005), portraying the role of sweety, an air hostess. In 2006 and 2007, she signed two other films, Godavari (Telugu language film) and Madhur Bhandarkar directed Traffic Signal (Hindi film). She and her brother Nitin Chandra produced and directed a Bhojpuri language film in 2011 named Deswa.
