Simran was born in a Punjabi family in Mumbai, Maharashtra on September 13, 1990. Her father’s name is Jasvinder Singh Mundi and her mother’s name is unknown. Sometime after her birth, her family relocated to Vijaipur, Guna, Madhya Pradesh. She enrolled in Delhi Public School, Vijaipur for attaining primary education and continued to complete her higher school intermediate from Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya, Gwalior. In the year 2007, she graduated from Government Holkar Science College, Indore with a degree in Biotechnology.
Post-graduation, Simran shifted to Mumbai and associated herself with Fame Cinemas, situated in Andheri. Her job profile was that of a guest relations executive. During her tenure at the Fame Cinemas, she caught sight of the renowned make-up artists Bharat and Dorris, who encouraged her to participate in the glamour show Femina Miss India 2008 pageant. Simran, who did not have any prior modelling experience, outperformed her fellow contestants to bag the title. Next, she appeared in the Miss Universe 2008 pageant held in Vietnam, as a representative of India, where she finished as the 1st runner-up.
She then took up more modelling assignments at other popular glamour shows, such as Lakme India Fashion Weeks (2008-2011), Wills India Fashion Weeks, India Couture Weeks, Dubai Fashion Weeks and several others.
Her first appearance on the screen happened to be through the reality game show, Zor ka Jhatka: Total Wipeout, which was anchored by the King of Bollywood, Shahrukh Khan. In the same year, she landed her debut film Jo Hum Chahein (Hindi), which was released on December 16, 2011.
